Emerald City Trapeze Arts

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy?
Emerald City Trapeze Arts requests 48-hours notice for all cancellations or reservation changes. Groups of 10 or those reserving a private class are required to provide 72 hours notice.
Failure to provide sufficient notice causes the participant to be liable for 100% of the cost of the scheduled appointment.

*Please note that Frequent Flyers who purchase a 10- or 20-class punch card are EXEMPT from our cancellation policy. Whoohoo!

I have a coupon!
Awesome-Blossom!
Have your Coupon / Voucher Number available when you call or email us. We’ll need coupon numbers for each person in your party in order to reserve your spots.
Please schedule your class several weeks in advance to guarantee availability.
Please schedule your class well before your coupon’s expiration date.
You must take your class before your coupon expires to receive its full value. However, the price of an expired coupon may be applied to the cost of the class for which your coupon was purchased.

If you have additional questions, please contact the company that issued your coupon directly.

It's my first class, what do I do?
Please sign up in advance for ALL classes via email or phone. When your class day arrives, please come 15 - 20 minutes early. You’ll want time to check-in, change your clothes, and warm up your muscles. Our waiver and registration forms are also available below if you would like to print them out ahead of time.

What should I wear?
It is Seattle so black is always appropriate.
Stripes, knee-high socks, polka-dots, feathers, sequins and glitter, bow-ties, multi colored tights, leg warmers, leotards/unitards and any other circus wear are recommended.

Please wear comfortable, form-fitting athletic clothes.
Shorts are not advised for your first class as you will be hanging from the bar by your knees. Please don't wear jeans. Have you ever seen an acrobat wearing jeans?
Tights, yoga pants, leggings or sweat pants work well, as long as they are not too baggy or too long.

Shoes are not permitted on the mats or any apparatus.
If you have long hair, put it up with an elastic band. Remove all jewelry. Clothing with buttons, snaps, zippers, rivets, and metal accessories is not allowed.
Contact lenses are preferable to glasses if you have the option.

Are there forms I need to fill out before participating?
All new students are required to complete our registration and release forms.
For students under 18, a parent or guardian will need to sign their release / waiver.
You may print these out and bring them in with you to save time, or come early and fill them out when you arrive.

How do I schedule a private party or lesson?
We are happy to accommodate any group, party, or event request! If you are a corporate group or you have more than 15 people, please contact Lauren at EVENTS@emeraldycitytrapeze.com.

For groups wishing to reserve a private flying trapeze or aerial class, please email us at info@emeraldcitytrapeze.com or give us a call anytime at (206) 906-9442.

How long are the classes?
Flying Trapeze classes typically last 2 hours.
Aerial classes range from 1-2 hours.
Please check our online schedule for class times and availability.

Who can participate?
Anyone between the ages of 6 and 106 years can participate in flying trapeze. The minimum age for all other classes is 14 years.
For your safety, we do have a weight limit of 250 pounds for flying trapeze.

If you have health concerns, please speak with your physician before attending.

Sam Keen, author of "Learning to Fly", took up flying trapeze just before his 62nd birthday and became quite accomplished.

What's the deal with the Open Gym?
We invite students and professionals alike to attend open gym with us on a daily or monthly basis. You may bring your own apparatus to hang and practice on, or use something of ours. If you are bringing in your own apparatus we will do a brief inspection of your rigging and put it up for you. Open gym does not include flying trapeze.

New open gym participants must:
- be approved through a short session with an instructor
- either attend classes regularly at Emerald City Trapeze OR be a professional aerialist
- be 16 years of age or older

Can I bring my pet to class me?
Sorry, in an effort to keep our space clean and allergy-free, we do not permit pets inside the building. You are more than welcome to tie Fido up outside if you wish.
