Emerald City Trapeze Arts

Paul Schimmel, aka "Dutch Passion" — Instructor: Flying Trapeze

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away (Netherlands), there was a boy named Paul. While he loved his land of tulips and clogs and windmills, he dreamed of something more, so at the age of 18, he set sail for America. In wide-eyed wonder, submerged into a strange new world, he found his way to Camp Chipinaw in New York to work in the circus program but spent most of his time staring in awe at the magnificent flying trapeze.

Alas, summer ended and Paul had to return home to Amsterdam, but something inside him was forever changed. Lucky for him, he impacted America as much as it impacted him, and he was invited to return to perform with a traveling circus, perfecting his juggling and Diablo acts. Yet still, his heart yearned to fly. Again, fate stepped in, this time in the form of Jefe, who invited young Paul to join the staff of the brand new Emerald City Trapeze Arts school. There he learned how to gracefully teach, catch and fly through the air with the greatest disease with the legendary Brian Flint and Dave Cavaletto.

All this new found knowledge went to his head and Paul had a brief stint traveling around the US to Texas, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, and Club Med Turks and Caicos. Before long, he realized his home was here in Seattle and returned to live happily ever after in the Emerald City.
