Club Med Names Seattle’s Emerald City Trapeze as
Official Circus School for North America Zone
December 14, 2010 – SEATTLE, WASH – We announce that Club Med has selected Emerald City Trapeze Arts in Seattle, WA to train students who aspire to join the prestigious Club Med circus staff. This training includes flying trapeze and aerial arts. Club Med recently selected students David Morgan, Nick Glomb and Heather Whinnen from Emerald City Trapeze to join its staff.
Emerald City’s instructor pedigree includes professional flying trapeze performers from Club Med, Cirque Du Soleil and Ringling Bros. Circus. “Emerald City has world class trapeze instructors and we scout for world class talent. It made sense we would combine synergies to find and train the best circus performers,” said Chris “Hammer” Keely, Director of HR & Recruiting.
“We are excited about this partnership,” said Gary Kirkland, owner, Emerald City Trapeze. “So many of our instructors worked at or had previous involvement with Club Med, including myself, so we understand their culture and priorities.”
Kirkland found inspiration to open Emerald City Trapeze Arts in 2009 after discovering flying trapeze at Club Med’s resort in Turks & Caicos.
For those interested in pursuing a hobby or career in circus, Club Med highly encourages them to seek out the program at Emerald City Trapeze Arts.

Trapeze Date Night at Emerald City
Brett and Mandy came by for a Flying Trapeze class on April 1st as part of their healthy dating series.
“...Mandy got to the platform, reached out and grabbed the bar and took the inevitable leap of faith. Swinging her legs around like a champion, letting go of the bar completely on the second swing and finishing with the perfect somersault, she jumped off the safety net euphoric and smiling from ear to ear. Brilliant!”
